I want to do the job right, but I also would prefer to plumb it so it does not look like a drag car - it's a street car and the fuel routing is really clean & direct right now. Your car needs a good gas pressure regulator to ensure the engine runs in the right way, without overworking itself. So what about mounting the regulator between the pump and the vapor separator? This would be a lot less extra line, and I could put the regulator down low in the engine compartment. Without a fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump will push too much fuel into the gas injectors, making the injectors not produce enough fuel for the car’s engine. It eliminates the possibility of air being drawn into the system, collapsed hoses and fuel restrictions from occurring. Rather than depending on the OEM CP3 to pull fuel from the tank the PPE Diesel Fuel Lift Pump pushes fuel through the lines and filter. That means more fuel lines back and forth. The PPE Diesel Fuel Lift Pump is a key component in a reliable fuel system. I don't really have a place to mount the regulator on the engine so I would have to mount it to the inner apron somehow. Mounting the regulator is a question - mounting it right before the carburetors makes the most sense, but it's going to be messy in terms of routing.
I have been having some problems with inconsistent fuel levels in the carburetors, and have decided a pressure regulator would be a good idea.
I am running a Carter mechanical pump, followed by a vapor separator (with return line), and then a fuel filter feeding a six pack setup. In addition to our own Sinister Diesel kits, we also carry the best parts from Alliant Power, BD Diesel, Dipaco, Ford, Industrial Injection, and Merchant Automotive. I would appreciate some thoughts on where to mount a Holley fuel pressure regulator. Take your choice of the injection pressure regulator parts or fuel regulator kits below and get back to proper performance in your Powerstroke, Cummins, or Duramax diesel.
